Ralph Hasenhuttl 'definitely' set to take major risk which could seriously boost West Ham

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is ‘definitely’ set to take a major risk which could seriously boost West Ham in tonight’s FA Cup clash.

West Ham travel to St Mary’s for what promises to be an intriguing tie as the two sides bid for a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

The Hammers are still fighting on three fronts and face a potentially historic few weeks for their hopes of success.

My Europa League Predictions.

If West Ham can hit top form this month they could, come the March international break in three weeks, be in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, the quarter-finals of the Europa League and still right in the mix for the top four.

Southampton have really impressed of late and are comfortable in league.

The Saints showed they have the beating of high-flying West Ham too when they came away from the London Stadium with a 3-2 victory on Boxing Day.

Southampton’s first choice XI will give most teams a good game at the moment.

But Hasenhuttl is about to take major risk which could seriously boost West Ham.

That’s after admitting he will ‘definitely’ make several changes to his side for the match (Hampshire Live).

“So far, the cup competitions have always been important for us as a team to give players chances, to show their importance for us as a club and this helps massively for keeping the atmosphere good in this team,” Hasenhuttl said ahead the match (Hampshire Live).

“When you have a bigger squad, you have some players who are not able to play all the time and they need something, a target to look at, and they have showed in the cup competitions so far that they have done a good job.

“They want to get a chance again to show up, and I don’t know how much we may change from the last game, but there will be a few, definitely…

“”It’s important you give other players the chance and in the FA Cup you have the option of five substitutes too, which gives you another chance to give others a chance. They get a chance to show up, but there will be a few, I think.”

That will be music to the ears of West Ham boss David Moyes who will surely feel confident of beating a weakened Saints team.

West Ham are not a team to be taken lightly. And most teams who get anything out of Moyes’s side over the last two years have had to play close to their best.

If the Hammers can pull off a win, they will be one game from a Wembley appearance.
