Potential last chance saloon for 24-year-old West Ham ace in huge FA Cup clash with Southampton

Tonight’s FA Cup clash with Southampton could be an absolutely huge night for West Ham United ace Nikola Vlasic.

The Hammers travel to St Mary’s to take on Southampton tonight in what is an absolutely huge game for us.

The fact that West Ham are still challenging on three fronts is mightily impressive and is evidence of the fine job being done by David Moyes at the London Stadium.

We have a chance to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals for the first time since 2016 and for only the third time since we were beaten in the final by Liverpool in 2006.

My Europa League Predictions.

The Hammers fans are absolutely buzzing about the game tonight and rightly so. We haven’t won a trophy in 42 years, and counting!

1980 was the last time that West Ham lifted any kind of silverware when a Trevor Brooking header was enough to beat Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

The result of tonight’s clash could have huge ramifications for our season. And it may well be a massively important night for one West Ham player from an individual perspective as well.

Nikola Vlasic’s time to shine during Southampton West Ham FA Cup clash

The 24-year-old play-maker joined the Hammers from CSKA Moscow in the summer on transfer deadline day for around £33 million (Evening Standard).

Vlasic has disappointed since swapping Moscow for London, however. He has shown glimpses of his quality, but as things stand, he needs to do a whole lot more.

In all fairness to the Croatia international though, David Moyes hasn’t given him a regular run of games. And he hasn’t been able to showcase his ability.

Having said that, if Vlasic is honest with himself, he will surely know that he hasn’t done enough to justify a regular starting role.

The problem for the Croatian is that when Said Benrahma, Pablo Fornals, Manuel Lanzini and Jarrod been are all fit, he faces a real uphill task to get anywhere near Moyes’s starting XI.

We believe that he might be given the nod tonight, however, either in the right wing, the number 10 or even the false nine position.

And if he is given a start by Moyes, it is a chance that Vlasic cannot afford to miss out on.

The 24-year-old has shown glimpses of what he is capable of what with his impressive technical ability, low centre of gravity and incredible strength when in possession of the football.

The bottom line is that he has to start showing that he was worthy of his massive £33 million price-tag. As things stand, it seems like West Ham boss David Moyes has bought somewhat of a dud.

However, that could all change with a top-class display for the Hammers against Southampton in the FA Cup at St Mary’s tonight.

Ralph Hasenhuttl has done a brilliant job in charge of the Saints and they will represent a really stern test for the East Londoners.

It’s time for the West Ham players to stand up and be counted and hopefully ensure our passage into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

And specifically, it’s time for Vlasic to make a big statement to both Moyes and the West Ham fans..
