West Ham United fans are in agreement that the club needs a new left-back.
Ex delivers emphatic verdict on England striker’s West Ham link
But if you didn’t think that before, just take a look at Aaron Cresswell’s first three direct opponents of the season.
West Ham face Newcastle, Arsenal then Wolves in the first three games.
That means Cresswell will be up against three of the quickest, most dangerous wingers in the top flight in succession in the shape of Allan Saint Maximin, Nicolas Pepe and Adama Traore.

The worrying reality facing West Ham and Cresswell
For West Ham fans it is a worrying prospect.
And it should act as smelling salts for David Moyes and his bosses David Sullivan and David Gold to get a deal done for Rico Henry.
West Ham have been heavily linked with a move for the flying Brentford left-back (Claret & Hugh and ExWHUemployee).
Henry impressed in West Ham’s 2-1 friendly win over the Bees at the weekend.
But with less than two weeks to go until the start of the season there is still no sign of any new faces at West Ham.
Ironically Brentford have spent more than the Hammers, signing striker Ivan Toney in a deal which could be worth £10m.
Realistically West Ham need signings in defence and up front this summer.

Moyes and owners must find a way to get Rico in the door
David Moyes has admitted bolstering his defence is a top priority (Evening Standard).
So a move for his top left-back target Henry is critical before someone else snaps him up.
Moyes has been watching on as his transfer plans go up in smoke.
One by one his reported targets have been signed by other clubs, including the man he reportedly wanted more than any other – Eberechi Eze.
Sullivan and Gold are dicing with death not loosening the purse strings to allow Moyes to strengthen his defence.

Flop striker money must be used to sign Henry
The Scot has raised £7.5million with the sales of Jordan Hugill and Albian Ajeti.
Whether that would be enough to tempt Brentford is not known.
Claret & Hugh claim Henry could be available for between £5-10m ‘depending on the competition for his signature’.
West Ham must at least try. Failure to seriously upgrade at left-back this summer could have fatal consequences.
The Hammers conceded 60+ goals for the third time in the last four seasons last term. And despite that West Ham have not signed a defender for over two years.
It is a fact that has baffled fans. Now time is of the essence and the clock is ticking.
