Carlos Tevez is absolutely adored by the West Ham United fans, and Evan Ferguson needs to take great heart from what he did on this day in 2007.
Back in 2021, many West Ham fans were pleading with the owners to re-sign Tevez on a free transfer.
And it was actually suggested in the summer of that year that the striker was open to joining West Ham at the London Stadium.
The Hammers signed Carlos Tevez from Corinthians on a crazy transfer deadline day way back in the summer of 2006.
He moved to Upton Park alongside his compatriot Javier Mascherano, and the deal was instigated by famous football agent Kia Joorabchian.

West Ham eventually paid the price, and a hefty one at that – £5.5 million, having breached Premier League transfer rules to sign the Argentinian stars (The Guardian).
The former Argentina international left the Hammers in the summer of 2007, and went on to play for the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus and Boca Juniors.
However, the Hammers fans still hold a place for him in their hearts.
What Carlos Tevez did on this day in 2007 should lift Evan Ferguson
Despite the fact that Tevez left the club as a hero, at one point it seemed like his spell in East London would go down as a disastrous one.
Things certainly didn’t run smoothly for the striker from the start.
The Argentinian, now 41, went an incredible 16 Premier League games and six months without scoring for West Ham.
However, on this day in 2007, the striker scored a brilliant free-kick against Tottenham.
Despite the fact that we lost that game 4-3 in the end, Tevez proved to be crucial for us during the run-in.
Including the strike against Spurs, Tevez ended up firing the Hammers to Premier League safety by bagging seven goals and three assists in our last 10 games (Transfermarkt).
Now Ferguson needs to learn from the South American legend.
Evan Ferguson must take heart from Carlos Tevez’s initial struggles
West Ham signed Evan Ferguson on loan from Brighton in the January transfer window.
He has made a really slow start to life with the Hammers though.
Ferguson has looked well off the pace during the three games he has played for us so far, and his confidence is at rock bottom.
It has even been claimed that West Ham are looking less and less like signing him on a permanent deal with every week that passes.
However, Ferguson still has plenty of time to prove himself with the Hammers.
Evan Ferguson needs to take heart from the fact that Carlos Tevez went 16 Premier League games without scoring for West Ham.
The Irishman can still become a Hammers hero, and that in itself is worth fighting for, just ask Tevez.
