West Ham owners Sullivan and Gold get it right with £30m decision

West Ham co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold are far from popular figures at the London Stadium. The last few years seems to have been a succession of one PR disaster after another. But finally, they have made a really good decision. And one that doesn’t benefit themselves first and foremost.

According to a report from Sky Sports, Sullivan and Gold have injected £30 million into the club to ensure stability during football’s shutdown.

The current global health crisis brought an abrupt stop to football across the globe.

But in truth, it probably didn’t come at a bad time for West Ham.

David Moyes’s side are currently floundering near the relegation places. And the Hammers fans blame Sullivan and Gold for their current plight. The West Ham faithful have been highly critical of what they perceive to be a distinct lack of investment over recent years when the club really should have been looking to kick on.

Hammers chiefs learning from past mistakes it seems

Sullivan Gold and vice-chairman Karren Brady have made plenty of questionable decisions during their time at the club.

There have also been plenty of questionable interviews during the years.

But this time, Sullivan and Gold have undoubtedly got things right.

Sky Sports claim that the duo are injecting £30 million into the Hammers in order to help stabilise them throughout these uncertain times.

The news comes as the West Ham players have agreed to defer a percentage of their salaries to help the club during the crisis. David Moyes and Karren Brady, meanwhile, will take a 30 per cent pay cut.

All non-playing staff will be paid 100 per cent of their wages. And that is an admirable move from the Hammers, considering that some clubs, Tottenham included, are not doing so.

So it seems as though everyone at the London Stadium is doing their bit to help the club and its employees through this very difficult time.
