Lines of communication are already established between West Ham and Arsenal after last summer’s blockbuster Declan Rice deal.
It’s been clear for some time that West Ham need to ship players out to make signings before the deadline.
That’s no surprise given the Hammers have made eight signings and counting this summer.
A number of Arsenal stars were linked with West Ham throughout the window.
The Hammers were linked with Gunners trio Reiss Nelson, Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah.
But could there yet be one Arsenal star who comes to West Ham’s rescue before the 11pm deadline?
West Ham have been working on departures for Kurt Zouma, James Ward-Prowse, Maxwel Cornet, Nayef Aguerd and Danny Ings.
West Ham must call Arsenal after late Aguerd twist
Zouma is in Saudi where he is expected to seal a season-long loan which takes him to the end of his West Ham contract.
Cornet is on his way to Southampton to join ex Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
Ward-Prowse is signing for Forest.
But up to now Aguerd has been refusing to budge despite bids from a host of clubs in Saudi, Bundesliga, Serie A and La Liga.
That’s a problem for the Hammers, who need to offload players in order to make their own signings.
But West Ham must now get straight on the phone to Arsenal after a late Aguerd twist.

Hammers should make loan move for Arsenal outcast Kiwior
According to The Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg, Aguerd is on his way to Spain to sign for Real Sociedad on loan.
“Real Sociedad are in talks with West Ham over a loan deal for Nayef Aguerd. Not done yet,” Steinberg said on X.
If Aguerd does depart it would be no great loss to West Ham.
But his departure presents a big issue for Julen Lopetegui.
The Spaniard has stated he wants two players in every position. Aguerd and Zouma both leaving means West Ham would only have three senior centre-backs – Max Kilman, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Jean-Clair Todibo.
So West Ham could do a lot worse than pick up the phone to Arsenal over a loan deal for Jakub Kiwior.
Ironcially Arsenal actually beat West Ham to lonstanding target Kiwior last year.
Kiwior has been heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal of late after Mikel Arteta brought in Riccardo Calafiori – another alleged West Ham target this summer.
Arteta has reportedly insisted Kiwior is not to be sold as he rates him highly.
A great deal for all concerned
But it could be that the Poland star is available for a straight loan before the deadline given his situation.
So West Ham must be ready to pounce if Aguerd does indeed join Sociedad.
It is a no-brainer for all concerned.
As the old saying goes, if you don’t ask, you don’t get.
West Ham should most definitely be in the conversation if there is a possibility of getting Kiwior on loan.
Especially as he can also play at left-back, where West Ham are now short as a result of Aaron Cresswell’s injury.
With only a few hours to go it might be difficult to do.
But with Kiwior already in London it is far from impossible.
It all hinges on Aguerd and what he decides, though.
