West Ham United legend Tony Cottee is in disagreement with vice-chairman Karren Brady’s stance on the remainder of the season.

All football has been shut down until April 4th due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

That has brought a halt to West Ham’s battle against relegation and a plethora of other factors yet to be decided in the Premier League and EFL.

There is growing uncertainty over what will happen to West Ham and the football season as a whole.

Uncertainty grows over football season

New government guidelines and timescales make resumption of football – or indeed any sport – any time soon highly likely.

Medical experts do not expect the virus to peak until late May and June (Telegraph).

Karren Brady was widely criticised for writing in The Sun that the season should be “null and void”.

Cottee at odds with Brady over integrity

Brady was accused of opportunism and protecting the interests of West Ham.

But Hammers legend Cottee has spoken out in disagreement with Brady.

Cottee, like many, believes the season must be completed, whenever that might be.

“Tough days at the moment,” Cottee said on Twitter.

“To try and lighten it up, I’m asking what you got up to at the weekend without any football in season, the first time in my lifetime.

“I went to Tesco with the Mrs, had a takeaway, nice meal with pals, but blimey I miss it, tough to know what to do without football.

“I know we was all looking forward to the Euros but it’s 100% the right decision to postpone it (until) next year.

Cottee says season conclusion is ‘vital’

“This should also help us to finish our domestic season, when the time is right, which is vital to the integrity of our game.”

If that is the case West Ham will have nine games left to preserve their Premier League status.

UEFA may have indicated the season will have to be scrapped, though.

That’s after European football’s governing body made specific demands about ending the campaign by a set date.
