West Ham fans thought a ‘new feature’ had been installed at the London Stadium when they arrived to shocking scenes for their European clash.
West Ham’s move to the London Stadium has always courted controversy among fans and the wider public.
As time has passed following the big move from Upton Park to Stratford in 2016, Hammers supporters have slowly come to feel more at home with their surroundings and match day routines.
West Ham fans were promised a “state of the art retractable seating solution” when the club was trying to sell the stadium move to sceptical fans worried about the distance from their seats to the pitch.
That never materialised and many supporters will never let vice-chair Karren Brady and co live it down.

Much was made about the London Stadium having the world’s biggest cantilevered roof too.
And that was certainly put to the test yesterday.
But West Ham fans thought a ‘new feature’ had been installed at the London Stadium when they arrived to shocking scenes for their European clash.
The Hammers welcomed Serbian league leaders TSC Backa Topola to east London for their Europa League opener on Thursday night.
Stormy weather struck around an hour before kick-off.
And supporters have quipped they thought West Ham had installed new water features and fountains as the rain gushed into the ground.

A plethora of videos have been shared online showing rain water bursting into the stadium concourse areas.
And fans have wasted little time using the issue to have a pop at the club and stadium owners LLDC.
You can see a host of videos showing the shocking level of water gushing in and around the ground before kick-off.
Some were concerned the game may be called off when they saw the level of water leaking into the concourses.
And some might have been wishing it had been when West Ham fell behind to the minnows at the start of the second half!
But David Moyes’ side managed to get their heads above water in the second half to secure a 3-1 win.
