West Ham fans; Have your say on Mason Terry, hat-trick hero Haji Wright and this season’s surprise star

Axel Disasi could hardly have made a more promising start to life at West Ham United. And it seems the Premier League hopefuls have made an impression on him, too.

Snapped up on loan from Chelsea on the final day of the winter transfer window, Disasi loves the ‘family feel’ at the London Stadium.

A far cry, as you might imagine, from the unforgiving, cutthroat environment of Stamford Bridge. Stuck in the Chelsea bomb squad one day and a West Ham United fan favourite the next, the France international is determined to repay the faith shown in him by Nuno Espirito Santo and a group of supporters who have taken him to their hearts.

How impressed have you been with West Ham’s new man? 👏

And should we look to sign him permanently?

It is too early for West Ham or Disasi to realistically talk about the prospect of a summer transfer. But it is not too early for the fans to think about turning a quick-burning fire into a long-term arrangement.

When we at Hammers News asked you whether you’d be keen to see the former Monaco powerhouse stay beyond the current campaign – provided relegation can be averted, of course – the vast majority of our Talking Point users made it clear that Disasi would be welcomed with open arms at West Ham as a full-time member of their roster.

Disasi raves about Hammers playmaker Mateus Fernandes

In a wide-ranging interview, during which the January signing admitted he has a West Ham-supporting, Stratford-based auntie, Disasi spoke about Mateus Fernandes. Specifically, how impressed he has been by the prancing Portuguese prince.

He knew Fernandes was good. But maybe not this good.

“I would say maybe Mateus Fernandes [has surprised me the most],” Disasi admits.

“Even last year when he was playing at Southampton, I remember [thinking], ‘this player is good.’ Then, when I played against Burnley, we were on the same team, I said, ‘no, he’s good, honestly.’”

Which player has proved YOU wrong this season?

Disasi also speaks warmly about the talents of El Hadji Malick Diouf and a winger in Crysencio Summerville who heads into Saturday’s clash with Bournemouth looking to score a seventh goal in eight appearances.

But if Fernandes has taken Disasi aback, which West Ham player has surprised you the most in 2025/26.

Mason Terry could give Nuno something to think about

What should West Ham’s goalkeeper strategy look like? 🧤

Sign a new keeper? Promote Mason Terry to 2nd choice?

As electrifying as Summerville has been, you would be hard pressed finding a player who has enjoyed a more eventful few weeks than Mason Terry.

The West Ham goalkeeping sensation scored for Braintree Town in the dying seconds of a National League Cup clash with Truro City recently. And, when keeping Solihull Moors at bay on Saturday, Terry earned himself a perfect 10/10 rating by stats specialists Sofascore.

With fellow youngster Finlay Herrick also earning rave reviews, perhaps West Ham will not need to go into the market for another shot-stopper after all.

Haji Wright hat-trick puts Frank Lampard’s Coventry top of the Championship

According to reports, Coventry demanded a staggering £120 million when West Ham enquired about Haji Wright before Christmas. That is one way to ensure the clubs sniffing around your star striker are kept at arms’ length.

Promotion to the Premier League is priceless for the Sky Blues, and their Los Angeles-born poacher lifted Frank Lampard’s side to the summit on Monday night.

Wright scored a hat-trick to see off Middlesbrough; Coventry leapfrogging their title rivals into top spot.

Would you be tempted to test Cov’s resolve again in the summer? And, if so, how much would you be prepared to pay? A damn sight less than £120 million, we would imagine…

Vladimir Coufal is Europe’s best right-back – according to the stats

Hoffenheim today tied down Vladimir Coufal to a new contract.

Of course they did. While Graham Potter controversially allowed the Conference League winner to leave East London on a free transfer, Coufal is statistically the best right-back in Europe right now. A further two assists in a 3-0 victory over Freiburg not only put Hoffenheim in command of a Champions League spot, it also equalled his best league tally from five years at West Ham [seven].

If you could roll back the clock and swap bodies with Potter for a day, what would you have said to Vladimir Coufal, knowing what we know now?
