Both teams are in desperate need of all three points. And the match has added impetus after Jose Mourinho was appointed as the new Spurs boss early this morning.

Who wins the battle between Winks and Rice will have a big bearing on the outcome of Saturday’s clash.

The duo both have great futures ahead of them in the game, and the West Ham ace told the Evening Standard how much respect he has for the Tottenham midfielder:

“A lot of people of the outside see it competition but I’m really good friends with Harry Winks and when he plays I’m happy for him,” said Rice. I played with him for the first time last night and we were speaking afterwards saying how much we enjoyed it. We were both want to keep the ball, keep it simple. To play with him last night and form that connection was good. It’s healthy.”

Rice will be hoping to get one over on Winks on Saturday. West Ham and Tottenham will both be well up for it, and central midfield could be the area where the game is won or lost.
