Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks raved about the quality of West Ham ace Declan Rice, when speaking exclusively to talkSPORT today.
The Spurs man has spent the last 10 days or so with the Hammers starlet on international duty with England.
And the two players are vying for the same spot in Gareth Southgate’s side.
Winks and Rice have both impressed for the Three lions over the past few months, but the West Ham man has received plenty of rather unfair criticism.
The Tottenham star, 23, gave his backing to the Hammers ace, however, when speaking exclusively to talkSPORT:
“Dec is a top player. Over the last couple of the camps I’ve got to know him, and he’s a top guy. He’s a great lad. What he’s done so far in his career in such a short space of time is incredible. To be a leader at West Ham is massive in itself.”
Rice has been incredibly consistent for West Ham over the past 18 months. And he has the ability to go on and become a truly elite performer for both club and country.
The Hammers youngster must continue to work hard, focus, and ignore his critics. If he gives 100 per cent for West Ham over the next few years, everything else will fall into place.
Rice has a great chance to prove his value to England on Saturday when he will come face to face with Tottenham’s Winks at the London Stadium.
