Tim Steidten planning for life without Lucas Paqueta at West Ham as 26-year-old’s new release clause claim emerges

West Ham United director of football Tim Steidten is seemingly preparing for life without Lucas Paqueta.

Tim Steidten has made a big difference to the way that West Ham do transfer business but his toughest test is yet to come, with Lucas Paqueta being heavily linked with a move to Manchester City in the summer.

The German, David Moyes and the Hammers board will be powerless to stop the Brazilian from joining the Premier League and Champions League holders.

However, the most important job on West Ham’s hands will be adequately replacing him if he does end up leaving.

In order to do that, we will probably need to sign two players – Paqueta’s release clause stands at £85 million after all.

And it seems as though one of the players the Hammers are targeting is a left winger currently plying his trade in the Bundesliga…

The Hammers DOF is said to be targeting a move to sign Chris Fuhrich of Stuttgart in the summer transfer window, according to a report from Sky Deutschland.

The 26-year-old left winger has been on fire for Stuttgart so far this season, with eight goals and seven assists to his name in 29 games (Transfermarkt).

Standing at 6ft tall, Fuhrich is a physically robust player, and seemingly has all of the tools needed to succeed in the Premier League.

The Germany international possesses impressive pace, and has a direct playing style – something that we lack amongst our current crop of players in my opinion.

I think he’d be a great signing for the Hammers. I’m not for one minute suggesting that he’d be a like for like replacement for Lucas Paqueta at West Ham. However, with his newly signed contract containing a £17 million release clause according to Sky Germany, he’d really help make up for what we will lose if the Brazilian exits at the end of the season.

And he’d be a real bargain as well.
