Nuno Espirito Santo has all but waved the white flag at West Ham United and Scott Parker may well be watching on.
Hammers News understands that Nuno is set to leave West Ham if they are relegated from the Premier League.
We are all but relegated — how would you feel about keeping Nuno in the Championship? 🧑💼
Or was that performance the last straw? 😡
That now looks like a certainty, even if their fate is not yet confirmed at the time of writing.
Parker has previously been a West Ham managerial target and there’s a clear connection there, during his four-year stint as a player. After leaving Burnley earlier this month, the 45-year-old is a free agent.
Nuno waves white flag on West Ham’s relegation chances
After a defeat to Newcastle that pushed the Irons to the brink of a first relegation in well over a decade, a defeated-looking Nuno said: “This is our job, our life but the fans are right. Today they showed their anger and frustration. It hurts, it hurts the boys, it hurts us, it hurts the club. That’s why we should finish the season with dignity and respect for the fans.”
The Irons could still stay up if relegation rivals Tottenham do not pick up another point in their final two games of the season but that does not feel at all likely.
That couldn’t have gone much worse! Can you explain what went wrong? 😞
Those comments about simply needing to finish the season with dignity and respect are surely a concession that their fate is now effectively sealed.
While unquantifiable things like dignity and respect are clearly important, the fact that they are really all that West Ham have left this season is a bitter disappointment.
Scant consolation indeed for a team who lifted European silverware not too long ago.

Parker has a brilliant record in the Championship amid historical links with West Ham
Parker would be a logical managerial appointment for West Ham due to both his playing career here in east London and his excellent record as a Championship manager.
Over the course of his managerial career, the former England midfielder has led all of Fulham, Bournemouth and Burnley from the second tier into the Premier League.
There is, of course, an obvious caveat to apply here. Parker has generally struggled as a Premier League manager, so it’s hard to imagine many supporters being positively bowled over if he was appointed.
Looking too far into the future is not really a luxury the club have right now, however. They just need to get back into the big time straight away and Parker, if Nuno is to leave, looks like a safe pair of hands on that front.
