Nuno Espirito Santo has proved he is not the right man for West Ham long term and Scott Parker is the perfect fit with his exit on the cards.

West Ham fans have always kept a close eye on Scott Parker’s development as a manager.

Because there is a feeling among much of the Hammers fanbase that he is one day destined to manage the club where he was crowned Hammer of the Year three seasons in a row.

Parker even won the prestigious Football Writers’ Player of the Year for his leadership of West Ham in their relegation battle in 2011.

Nuno will leave if West Ham drop and Parker is the perfect replacement

The brilliant midfielder gave every last ounce of blood and sweat for the Hammers in every game he played and the half-time speech which inspired a comeback from 3-0 down at West Brom is the stuff of West Ham legend.

Parker has largely impressed in his managerial career thus far.

Nuno still feels positive about West Ham’s chances – but do YOU?

Nuno Espirito Santo, Manager of West Ham United, acknowlegdes the fans following the Premier League match between Brentford and West Ham United at Gtech Community Stadium on May 02, 2026 in Brentford, England.

Now he is a free agent having left Burnley and do not be surprised to see him in the West Ham dugout next season.

West Ham’s disastrous 3-0 defeat at Brentford on Saturday has put rivals Spurs back in control of the relegation battle.

Nuno Espirito Santo has been lambasted by fans for his negative tactics, team selection and substitutions yet again.

The Portuguese has done a good job to turn the team around since January. But it took him far too long to get a grip on the team and name a settled side since arriving in September.

And West Ham now look like they may pay the ultimate price with relegation to the Championship.

Nuno signed a three-year deal when he replaced Graham Potter.

Former Hammer Parker has never failed to win promotion from the Championship

But Hammers News understands there is no doubt if West Ham drop he will not remain in charge beyond this season.

While the Hammers will still be hoping they can somehow pull off a great escape, the odds are no longer in their favour.

So if West Ham are relegated, Nuno will depart and Parker is surely the only candidate.

For starters he is a free agent and David Sullivan and the Hammers board have proved time and again they refuse to pay to bring managers in.

There is the obvious West Ham connection, a three-time Hammer of the Year and former club captain makes Parker a perfect fit in that regard.

Then there is the fact Parker has never failed to be promoted in a Championship season as a manager.

It is an astonishing statistic for a young manager who, at 45, has his best years ahead of him.

Parker has led Fulham, Bournemouth and Burnley to promotion to the Premier League.

West Ham fans want exciting, attacking football and Parker sets his teams up to play that way.

Yes Burnley have struggled and been relegated under his stewardship, but he would have better and bigger resources at West Ham and a superior squad.

Parker would lead the Hammers back to the Premier League if they do drop.

Nuno has proved he is not the man for the long-term at West Ham and won’t be around much longer if the worst case scenario happens.

So the West Ham board should be making moves in the background to let Parker know the job could be his before he is snapped up by another club.

There has always been a feeling of inevitability about Parker managing West Ham. That could and should be realised this summer if West Ham are demoted to the Championship.
