The Algerian international has switched from nine after Michail Antonio took that shirt number.

The 25-year-old has always wanted to wear number 22 as it was the shirt number worn by his late father.

But who has worn the number 22 previously for West Ham? Many of the names of the list will leave some Hammers fans saying, ‘Who?’.

Said Benrahma number 22: His 15 predecessors at West Ham

Colin Foster

Adrian Whitbread

Craig Forrest

Brent Rahim

Les Ferindand

Matthew Kilgallon

Andy Melville

Elliot Ward

Tony Stokes

Manuel da Costa

Henri Lansbury

Jussi Jääskeläinen

Angelo Ogbonna

Sam Byram

Sebastien Haller

The only success stories out of those names listed were Les Ferdinand and Angelo Ogbonna. And the Italian only had the number 22 shirt for one season!

Jääskeläinen wasn’t bad but he hardly set the world alight.

The Algerian has the talent to change the recent fortunes of the cursed number 22 shirt.

It’s Said’s time to shine and we think the number 22 will be a good omen for him given the relevance it had to his late father.
