According to a report from the Daily Mail, the West Ham board will take the unusual step of consulting with the players before making a decision on Manuel Pellegrini’s future.

The Hammers boss is under fire at the moment. His side have won just one of their last 10 Premier League games, and they currently sit in 16th spot in the table, just one point clear of the drop zone.

Pellegrini seems to be completely devoid of ideas and lacks any kind of passion on the touchline.

Is he past his best? It certainly seems that way.

The Daily Mail claims that the West Ham board are losing patience with the Chilean. But the British newspaper suggests the owners will consult the Hammers players before potentially moving the 66-year-old on.

There are plenty of exciting young managers out there who would undoubtedly do a better job than Pellegrini.

But attracting them to a team embroiled in a relegation battle will be far from easy.

One thing is for sure, if West Ham lose to Southampton, Pellegrini’s position in charge at the London Stadium will be untenable.
