West Ham are currently £10 million short of meeting Bournemouth’s £20 million asking price for Josh King according to a report from the Daily Star.

Hammers boss David Moyes has so much work to do before the extended transfer window closes on Friday.

Our squad is terribly unbalanced at the moment. West Ham’s need for a centre-back and a central midfielder is obvious.

But our lack of strength in depth up front should not be overlooked.

Should Michail Antonio suffer any kind of serious injury, we will be in real trouble.

And the Daily Star claims that David Moyes is looking to address that issue by bringing Bournemouth forward Josh King to the London Stadium.

There is a problem, however. West Ham are only willing to pay £10 million for the 28-year-old, with the Cherries holding out for £20 million.

We have criticised David Sullivan enough on Hammers News. But it must be said that he might just be right this time around. King has just nine months remaining on his current contract with Bournemouth.

So we really shouldn’t be paying anywhere near £20 million for him. Perhaps some common ground can be found. £12-15m would be far more reasonable and might represent value for money for the Hammers.

Only time will tell whether that will be enough to prise King away from the Vitality Stadium, however.
