West Ham United loanee Niclas Fullkrug will not be earning a permanent move to AC Milan if he continues to play like he did against Lazio.
Indeed, only a few days ago did reports emerge that suggested Milan are unlikely to sign Fullkrug permanently from West Ham United despite having a reasonably cheap option to buy him.
Last chance saloon?
Who would YOU give a fresh start to this summer?
While the Italian giants have reportedly been impressed by his attitude, they do not believe a 33-year-old Fullkrug represents a long-term investment.
That’s a blow for West Ham and though no decision appears to have officially been made yet, the forward’s outing as Milan lost to Lazio to lose ground in the title race will not have impressed decision makers at Milan.
Fullkrug caught offside three times in 20 minutes as Milan lose to Lazio
The forward came off the bench in the 67th minute for Rafael Leao as the Rossoneri chased a goal.
It was, however, a very poor display from Fullkrug. As per FotMob data, he managed to be caught offside three times in his cameo – equaling the number of touches he had during the game.
Good idea or is all hope for an atmosphere lost anyway?
That was a very poor outing and at a frustrating time. Milan had just beaten Serie A leaders Inter, who then dropped more points by drawing to Atalanta.
However, Milan were unable to strike, and they remain seven points behind with just nine games to go.

Why Milan currently don’t want to sign Fullkrug on a permanent basis
As previously mentioned, there are suggestions that the Italian giants just don’t think Fullkrug represents value for money at this stage of his career.
That does make sense, even if it is frustrating from a West Ham perspective – with surely everyone here in east London desperate to end his spell at the club for good.
However, it may not be the only reason at play here. Had the former Borussia Dortmund striker been scoring goals, perhaps Milan would feel differently.
The fact is, however, that Fullkrug has scored just one goal in 13 games for Milan. That is a poor record and is hardly giving Milan much of a reason to consider extending his stay.
