Nathan Trott must be in cloud cuckoo land after his recent comments about West Ham

West Ham United owned goalkeeper Nathan Trott is currently spending the season on loan with Danish outfit Vejle BK.

Nathan Trott has been with West Ham since 2016, after Slaven Bilic brought him to the club from Bermudan side North Village Rams.

He has only ever played seven first-team minutes for the Hammers – an FA Cup substitute appearance against Doncaster in 2021, and just last week he admitted that he is still dreaming of playing for the West Ham United first-team.

David Moyes currently has Alphonse Areola and Lukasz Fabianski as his two main goalkeepers at the London Stadium.

However, Trott’s real problem is that he has Joseph Anang, 23, Krisztian Hegyi, 21, and Jacob Knightbridge, 19, currently ahead of him in the pecking order as well.

In my opinion, he hasn’t got any chance of making it with West Ham, or any other Premier League side for that matter, as harsh as that might sound…

Nathan Trott makes delusional West Ham comments

It’s not like Trott is a young, up and coming goalkeeper is it – he’ll be 25 in 11 day’s time!

He has hardly set the world alight in Denmark either, having conceded 20 goals in 14 games for Vejle BK and having kept just one clean sheet in the process (Transfermarkt).

In fact, 224 goals conceded in 153 career games (Transfermarkt), including youth matches, tells its own story really doesn’t it.

It seems to me like the ship has already sailed for the 24-year-old, regarding his chances of representing the Hammers at first-team level.

He will be out of contract at the London Stadium in the summer of 2024, and I just cannot envisage a scenario whereby he will be offered a new deal.

There quite simply isn’t any need for him at the club now. Hegyi is very highly rated behind the scenes at the London Stadium, and if any of the young goalkeepers are going to go on and make it at the highest level, it will most probably be him.

Nathan Trott would be better off accepting the fact that his West Ham career is over, rather than continue to pursue the impossible.
