Lucas Paqueta is doing everything he can to get the West Ham fans further away from him.

Nuno Espirito Santo started Paqueta in the 3-2 loss at home against Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.

The Brazil international, already under immense scrutiny following his red card against Liverpool, had another terrible outing for the East London club.

Paqueta lost possession 16 times against Aston Villa

Starting in the number 10 role, the onus was on Paqueta to grab the game by the scruff of its neck and run things in the final third.

He had two sharp runners in Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville around him and all he had to do was get on the same wavelength as them.

What does Nuno need to do to FIX West Ham’s defence?

More points lost…

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo, the manager of West Ham, looks on prior to kick-off during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Liverpool at the London Stadium in Stratford, United Kingdom, on November 30, 2025.

However, he failed to do that and let his manager, teammates and the fans down.

What’s worse is that Paqueta had a direct hand in Villa’s equaliser that made it 2-2, and that goal turned the course of the match.

His stats do not make for any better reading and while assessing the game, Nuno will not be pleased with a number of metrics.

According to Sofascore, he lost possession on 16 occasions in the 89 minutes he was on the pitch.

His pass accuracy was 76 per cent, but dropped lower when passes in the final third are considered, with only 67 per cent.

Paqueta won none of his four ground duels and lost five out of seven aerial duel attempts.

The 28-year-old also failed to complete a single dribble or cross, and had a 50 per cent accuracy with long passes.

Paqueta’s stats make for awful reading…

This was his WORST EVER performance for West Ham…

Can Paqueta turn a corner at West Ham United?

Paqueta’s form has never been as bad as it is currently.

Nuno and his teammates can only do so much, as the rest has to come from within for the Brazilian.

He needs to work harder on the training ground, perhaps be taken out of the starting eleven for a game, so that he’s no longer in the spotlight.

As things stand, he does not appear to have a very bright future at the London Stadium and he could be on his way in the summer.
