West Ham’s U23 team recorded back-to-back wins in the Premier League 2 Division 2 as they push for promotion. And it was Nathan Holland who set up the winning goal in West Ham’s 2-1 victory over Newcastle United.
Jamie Sterry fired Newcastle’s youngsters ahead but Joe Powell grabbed an equaliser. With the game level at 1-1, Holland provided the difference-making moment with a cross into the box which resulted in an own goal.
It was Holland’s second assist in two games after setting up a goal in the 3-0 win over Fulham last week. This added to his stunning tally of two goals and eight assists in 11 Premier League 2 games after coming back from a long-term injury.

It is clear that the 21-year-old is a tremendous talent and West Ham gave him a new contract last season. But he needs to be sent on loan this season to make sure he is ready to step up to first-team football.
Where could Nathan Holland head on loan?
The English transfer window is shut, meaning Holland is unable to join another Premier League side or a Championship club. But he could still head to a League One or a League Two team.
According to reliable West Ham insider EXWHUEmployee, Bolton Wanderers want to sign the ex-Everton winger. But this might be something West Ham decide against. While Holland would get games for the Trotters, their on-the-field and off-the-field problems could be demoralising for a promising youngster.
There are bound to be other League One clubs keen on Holland, who could well be good enough for the Championship. Alternatively, West Ham can send him abroad with a move to Holland a potential destination.
