Joe Cole has noticed a big difference at West Ham. And he told BT Sport yesterday (October 24th, 11:33 am) that the atmosphere currently emanating from the club is the best that he has seen since he ended his playing career in 2016.

The Hammers were a club in crisis four months ago when Premier League action resumed.

We were staring relegation in the face, with some incredibly tough games on the horizon.

David Moyes guided us to safety, however. Then the new fixtures were released for the 2020/21 campaign, and the West Ham fans were worried that another relegation scrap could be lying in wait.

We were dealt games against Arsenal, Wolves, Leicester, Tottenham, Manchester City and Liverpool in our first seven outings.

The Hammers have taken an incredibly impressive eight points from their opening six games, however, with just Liverpool left to play from that horror run of games.

West Ham really do seem like a totally different team.

And Joe Cole pointed out how good the atmosphere is amongst the players, when speaking to BT Sport at the London Stadium yesterday (October 24th, 11:33 am):

“I’ve been to West Ham many times since I retired. And I’ve never been there when there has been such a good mood as there is now. The lads seem to be happy, David is full of optimism. I think West Ham are in a good position.”

There has undoubtedly been a shift in mentality amongst the West Ham players. And David Moyes deserves huge credit for that.

The Hammers players now seem to have a never-say-die attitude. They proved that away at Tottenham last weekend and to some extent against Manchester City in the second-half yesterday.

We are hard to beat now. No team will want to play us. And it has been a long, long time since we have been able to say that.
