Despite fan meltdown are all the signs pointing to West Ham being confident of a deal for prime target Tammy Abraham?

Aston Villa’s double signing of Danny Ings and Leon Bailey seems to be the straw that has broken the camel’s back for many West Ham United fans.

Some Hammers supporters have been in meltdown after Villa quietly, quickly and efficiently wrapped up the signing of reported West Ham target Ings on Wednesday night.

That followed the capture of another forward – Bailey – to add to Ollie Watkins.

David Moyes still has the injury prone Michail Antonio as his only striker. That’s despite selling Sebastien Haller all the way back in January.

Abraham is Moyes’s prime target and the Scot will not sign other players for the sake of it

It has long been known that Chelsea outcast Tammy Abraham is Moyes’s prime target.

And Moyes refuses to bring players to West Ham for the sake of it or have signings forced on him.

So while all around are losing their heads perhaps – at the risk of sounding like a deluded optimist – we need to start reading between the lines.

If Moyes only wants Abraham – who just three weeks ago was said to be keen on a move to West Ham by the way – then the fact he hasn’t yet moved for anyone else might suggest he is still confident that deal can be done.

Blues outcast Tammy won’t get many better offers than West Ham where he is guaranteed game time

Abraham has absolutely no future at Chelsea. Aston Villa will surely not be moving for him after signing Ings.

Hammers News reported back in April that any deal for Abraham to join West Ham hinged on Chelsea re-signing Romelu Lukaku.

And that particular transfer has moved at a pace today with a deal being agreed ahead of a big money return to London for the Belgian (Sky Sports).

Once Chelsea get Lukaku signed, Abraham will be free to leave. Moyes will know that, West Ham will know that.

Perhaps the Hammers have been given private assurances that Abraham will join if and when a deal is agreed between West Ham and Chelsea once Lukaku arrives at Stamford Bridge?

If not then Moyes would surely have moved for an alternative by now.

Fans are understandably concerned at the moment.

Fans understandably concerned but do all the signs point to Moyes being rewarded for his patience once Lukaku deal is over the line?

West Ham have a lack of squad depth in key positions including up front, defence and central midfield.

It is unfathomable that West Ham would let the window close with only Antonio to call on up front.

And Moyes would not have signed a new three-year deal if the owners were not willing to back him to make key signings.

Indeed the club have insisted privately that the money is there for signings.

There will be a lot of business done across the transfer market towards the end of the window this summer. That was always going to be the case.

Abraham is guaranteed plenty of games as a starter if he comes to West Ham.

He is not guaranteed that at Arsenal, who are not in Europe either.

Reading between the lines, looking at the logic and the Lukaku triangle, I would not be one bit surprised to see Abraham become a Hammer in the coming weeks.

If that is the case – and West Ham manage to sign someone like Nikola Milenkovic at the back and keep Declan Rice – then you have to ask yourself who would have had the better window, the Hammers or Villa?

No contest.
