Declan Rice sends very clear transfer message to the West Ham United owners

Declan Rice has sent a very clear transfer message to the West Ham United owners with just one month remaining in the summer window.

Hammers boss David Moyes has already been a busy man in the transfer market, bringing Alphonse Areola, Nayef Aguerd, Gianluca Scamacca and Flynn Downes to the London Stadium.

It’s clear to see that the Scot needs to make at least three or four new signings before the transfer window slams shut, however, if we are to remain competitive next season.

Yesterday’s 0-0 draw with Lens highlighted just how short of numbers Moyes is.

Michail Antonio and Aguerd missed out though injury whilst Scamacca wasn’t match fit. The only summer signings in the squad were Flynn Downes and Alphonse Areola and let’s face it, the French goalkeeper isn’t a new signing really is he!

The harsh reality is that, as things stand, the Hammers are desperately short of numbers. And the club captain has made it very clear what needs to happen…

In all fairness, David Moyes is obviously very keen to get some new signings over the line before the season starts next week.

With time ticking away, however, it will be a tense race to the finishing line.

And Declan Rice insisted that West Ham cannot afford to stand still this summer and beyond, as quoted by The Evening Standard:

“West Ham is a massive club and, if we want to compete with the best, we need to keep improving. There is no point in standing still and being stale.”

You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to read between the lines there do you!

The Declan Rice transfer message was clear as day in my opinion.

David Moyes needs to sign a left-back, another centre-back, a powerful central midfielder and a versatile attacking player who can operate on either wing, if West Ham are to achieve any kind of success this season.

The board have already spent a fair amount of money this summer, so credit where it’s due. Whether they have the ambition to take us up to another level entirely, whoever, remains to be seen.

However, Declan Rice has put the ball firmly in their court with his clear transfer message.
