Youssef En-Nesyri’s ‘phantom’ move to West Ham United from Sevilla in January has been completely debunked.

That’s according to a report from AS who claim that the recent reports linking the 25-year-old striker with a move to the London Stadium in the January transfer window ‘don’t seem very real’.

West Ham manager David Moyes allegedly wants to bring the Morocco international to the London Stadium this winter.

The Scot ended his long search for a centre-forward in the summer when he signed Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo.

It could be argued that he needs to strengthen his attacking ranks even further still in January though. It seems like En-Nesyri is the man who Moyes could target.

Or is he?

Spanish publication AS reckons that there is no truth to the reports linking the Morocco international with a January move to West Ham.

In my opinion, that isn’t a bad thing. I believe that Moyes could and should be setting his sights a lot higher than En-Nesyri.

I certainly wouldn’t have been saying that 12-18 months ago though!

He has been described as a ‘brilliant striker’ by well-renowned football website Sport Mob.

The 25-year-old bagged 24 goals in 53 games for Sevilla in the 2020/21 season. At the time, The Moroccan would have cost around £40 million (La Razon)

However, last term he only racked up five goals and three assists in 29 games (Transfermarkt).

And this season has been even worse for him. En-Nesyri is still yet to register either a goal or an assist in 10 La Liga games for Sevilla (Transfermarkt).

The 25-year-old has scored for Morocco at the World Cup out in Qatar but in general, I just haven’t been very impressed him.

He was really bad during the two games that we had against Sevilla in the Europa League last season.

And he just doesn’t seem to have the attributes needed to succeed in the ferociously paced Premier League.

Youssef En-Nesyri’s ‘phantom’ move to West Ham has been completely debunked by AS. I don’t think that’s a bad thing whatsoever.
