Michail Antonio has sent a message to the West Ham United fans after his poor recent run of form.

It’s hard to be too critical of the 31-year-old.

He has been absolutely brilliant for the Hammers since signing for the club in 2015 for around £7 million.

Antonio found a new level entirely under David Moyes after football resumed following the first nationwide lockdown last year.

Moyes deployed the former Nottingham Forest man as a centre-forward and it proved to be a masterstroke from the Scot.

Antonio scored 25 goals in 46 games after football resumed up until October of this year.

Unfortunately for him though, he hasn’t scored since…that’s now nine games without a goal for Micky, and counting.

The 31-year-old is clearly suffering with somewhat of a confidence crisis at the moment. Sometimes he will look well off the pace purely because he isn’t a natural striker.

So when things aren’t going well, the poor runs he makes and his questionable hold-up play stands out like a sore thumb.

The good news though is that when he’s on, he is unplayable.

And Antonio pleaded with the West Ham fans to stick with him as he fights through this rough patch, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“I am confident in my ability, so I don’t need anybody to jump on me because I am jumping on myself already. I’m a person who demands the best from myself and I am getting frustrated in myself that I have not scored in so many games, so you don’t need to get on my back as I’m already on my own back! I am going to go out there, give my all and hopefully this week I can put the ball in the back of the net for me, for the team and for you guys.”

West Ham need Antonio to get back to his best as soon as possible.

He has been such a key member of Moyes’s squad at the London Stadium over the past 18 months or so. And we are quite simply not the same team when he’s not firing on all cylinders.
