Michail Antonio has chosen Newcastle star Allan Saint-Maximin as the one Premier League player he would love to see West Ham sign.

Newcastle signed the 25-year-old winger from Nice in the summer of 2019 for around £16.5 million (BBC Sport).

And the Frenchman has proven to be a huge hit with the Magpies, bagging 13 goals and 18 assists in 98 games so far for the Toon (Transfermarkt).

Saint-Maximin has always been the standout player for Newcastle when they’ve played against West Ham, and has caused us all sorts of problems with his power and pace.

In many ways, he is much like Michail Antonio of a few years ago – powerful, direct and full of explosive pace.

The West Ham ace clearly thinks very highly of the Newcastle star too…

Michail Antonio makes bold Allan Saint-Maximin claim

The Hammers hitman was speaking to Callum Wilson about some of the most talented players in England’s top flight.

When asked on the Footballer’s Football Podcast which player he would love West Ham to sign from any of our Premier League rivals, Antonio chose the Newcastle star:

I’m going to pick Saint-Maximin. Saint-Maximin because everyone knows his ability. It is ridiculous to be fair, the guy is a joke, you have to double up on him, maybe even treble.

Now, Saint-Maximin is obviously an incredibly talented player, but Antonio choosing him over the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah really is quite something.

The Newcastle star’s pace and power is something that we desperately lack as a team though.

Like Michail Antonio said, I would absolutely love to see Allan Saint-Maximin in a West Ham shirt.

In all fairness though, I just can’t see it happening at any point in the near future.
