West Ham shown up again as Aston Villa reportedly agree £18m deal to sign talented young striker Jhon Duran.

That’s according to a report from The Athletic who claim that Aston Villa have agreed a $22 million (£18 million) fee with Chicago Fire for the teenage hitman.

That’s a shame for West Ham because David Moyes wanted to bring Duran to the London Stadium.

Moyes is desperate to improve his attacking ranks at West Ham before the January transfer window slams shut.

Duran would have been a great option for us, but it’s bad news for the Hammers fans this afternoon…

Aston Villa agree deal to sign Jhon Duran

The Athletic claim that Unai Emery has struck a deal to bring the young South American to Villa Park in January.

Why on earth weren’t West Ham pressing harder for this one?

The 19-year-old Colombia international is a real talent and seemingly has everything needed to succeed on the world’s biggest stage. He is a centre-forward by trade but can also operate as a left winger.

Duran has bagged eight goals and six assists in 30 games for Chicago Fire this season (Transfermarkt).

The South American possesses blistering pace and has really impressive strength for someone so young.

He is obviously still incredibly raw and rough around the edges. It’s clear to see in some players that they have what it takes though. And the Colombian undoubtedly has something special about him.

Unfortunately for West Ham though, Aston Villa have apparently won the race to sign Jhon Duran.

And that has highlighted once again just how slow we are out of blocks when it comes to transfers.
