But his tough, hard working performances were appreciated just as much as the goals by West Ham fans.
Haller struggles continue
Cross, affectionately nicknamed Psycho, still looks out for his old club.
And he has urged West Ham fans to get behind struggling striker Sebastien Haller.
Haller put in another poor performance in the 2-1 win at Leeds on Friday night.
As was the case against Manchester United, West Ham should have been out of sight with the chances they created.
Haller missed a hat-trick of opportunities himself.
The Ivorian was also at fault for Leeds’s goal, failing miserably to hold the ball up before Patrick Bamford was put through to win a penalty.

The performance – although improved as the game wore on – was typical of Haller since signing for West Ham 18 months ago – joyless.
One West Ham fan suggested Haller would benefit from a one-to-one with Cross.
And the former Hammers favourite responded, asking supporters to back Haller because he can see a player there.
“Felt sorry for him last night (at Leeds),” Cross said on Saturday.
“Little went right and we’ve all been there.
“I thought he worked hard to get chances and that’s good. If a striker stops going into goal scoring areas it’s a downward spiral and he kept trying.
“One goal will change things for him! He’s a talented player.”

Another accusation thrown at Haller is that he doesn’t care.
But he was clearly beating himself up all night and looked exasperated every time he missed an opportunity.
David Moyes must somehow coax a performance out of Haller. But he too appears increasingly agitated by the striker’s lack of form.
With Michail Antonio out, the Hammers have no other striker options.
And another former West Ham legend believes signing Moyes target Josh King in January could see his old club challenge the elite this season.
