If there is a Sebastien Haller fan club it is fair to say West Ham United boss David Moyes is not in it.

Moyes has proved by his actions that out of sorts striker Haller is not his cup of tea.

The Scot inherited the £45million striker when he took over from Manuel Pellegrini.

Moyes has been trying to coax some form out of Haller

But he prefers Michail Antonio up front for West Ham when fit.

And it is easy to see why. The Ivorian put in another poor performances in the win over Leeds on Friday night.

Haller was at fault for the Leeds goal, came off second best in the battle with makeshift centre-back Luke Ayling and missed a hat-trick of excellent chances to make the win more comfortable for West Ham.

Moyes has called on the striker to prove his worth to the Hammers in recent months.

And he even told Haller to ‘smile more’ (Evening Standard).

Hammers boss shows his disdain for striker’s performance during spiky interview

It appears Moyes has given up trying to coax a performance out of the striker, though.

That’s if his interview after the win over Leeds is anything to go by.

An agitated Moyes was in no mood to offer any excuses for the West Ham forward when asked about Haller’s performance.

When offered the chance to praise Haller on Sky Sports, after a long pause Moyes had a five-word response before changing the subject to lauding Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

“I think he should have scored,” Moyes told Sky Sports.

“I think the outstanding player was the goalkeeper of Leeds. His saves were fantastic and he’s looking very impressive I’ve got to say.”

‘The weight of the world on his shoulders’

Another damning indictment from Moyes.

Rob Green was in the studio for Sky Sports.

And he commented that Haller ‘looks like he is playing with the weight of the world on his shoulders’.

Whether it is a lack of confidence, lack of desire, lack of ability or a mixture of all those things, it just isn’t happening for Haller at West Ham.
