According to a report from Claret and Hugh, West Ham target Josh King is demanding wages of around £130,000 per week.
And those demands are causing obvious problems.
talkSPORT claims that £17 million could be the amount that the Hammers have to pay in order to prise the 50-capped Norway international away from the Vitality Stadium.
David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his centre-forward and left-wing department before the extended transfer window slams shut on Friday.
And it seems as though we may have to focus our attention on Josh King now after the Mirror reported yesterday that West Ham’s deal to sign Brentford ace Said Benrahma is on the verge of collapse.
The 28-year-old Cherries ace would be a very good signing for the Hammers.
But let’s have it right. We should be paying the Norwegian nowhere near £130k-a-week. If truth be told, we shouldn’t even be offering him £90k-a-week.
Some common ground needs to be found here.
King is an incredibly hard worker, but he isn’t the type of striker who will score 20 Premier League goals a season for us.
We have given the owners enough stick as it is. This time we can’t argue with them. We need to dig our heels in, stand our ground, and offer King no more than £70 or £80k-a-week.
And perhaps then, bringing the 28-year-old to the London Stadium would be a value for money deal for us.
