West Ham United manager David Moyes could drop Jarrod Bowen for our clash with Wolves on Saturday evening.

That’s according to club insiders Claret and Hugh who claim that the 25-year-old Hammers winger could be left out against Wolves due to his poor start to the season.

Bowen has been an absolute shadow of his former self this term and his poor form has been a key factor in West Ham’s recent demise.

The 25-year-old’s poor run of form saw him dropped by Gareth Southgate from the England squad for their clash with Germany last night.

It will now be a real uphill task for him to fight his way back into the Three Lions squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar this winter.

More importantly though, he needs to start performing for West Ham United, with David Moyes desperate to get his side’s season back on track…

David Moyes could drop West Ham star for Wolves

Claret and Hugh reckon that Bowen could be left out for Saturday’s clash against Wolves, with Maxwel Cornet waiting in the wings for his first Premier League start.

This would 100% be the right call – Bowen has been truly woeful this season after all. The real question is why on earth it has taken David Moyes so long to drop the West Ham attacker?

Gareth Southgate took the plunge and dropped Jarrod from the England squad:

Now’s the time for Moyes to do the same.

The Scot brought Bowen to West Ham for £18 million two-and-a-half years ago ((The Daily Mail). He has proven to be an excellent addition for us, especially for that fee.

The 25-year-old bagged 18 goals and 13 assists in 51 games for the Hammers in all competitions last season (Transfermarkt).

He was rewarded for his fine form with a call-up to the England squad in June, and subsequently earned four caps for his country.

Things have gone rapidly downhill for Jarrod Bowen since then though, and his form for David Moyes’s West Ham United has been beyond bad since the start of the 2022/23 season.

He is still yet to register either a goal or an assist in seven Premier League games thus far.

Continuing to play Jarrod Bowen from the start, in spite of his poor form, sets a dangerous precedent.

It sends the message out that Moyes’s favourites are untouchable. That simply cannot be allowed to happen.

When players know that they’re guaranteed to start in each and every game, it’s almost inevitable that their performance levels will subsequently drop.

However, if you drop them down to the bench and show them that they are not a shoo-in to be picked every week, it will give them the hunger they need to perform at their best.

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte proved exactly that yesterday with Heung-Min Son 10 days ago.

David Moyes must do the same and drop the underperforming West Ham man down to the bench for our game against Wolves.

At least then, he will come on with a point to prove, if Moyes does indeed decide to bring him on as a substitute this weekend.
