Ogbonna was imperious yet again for West Ham as they beat Leeds 2-1 on Friday night.

The Italian got the winner late on and is one of the frontrunners for the prestigious Hammer of the Year award so far this season.

Imperious Ogbonna on course for Hammer of the Year

He wasn’t the only player to impress at Elland Road, though.

Benrahma was finally given his first start by West Ham boss David Moyes.

And he sparkled, winning praise from Moyes, pundits, fans and teammates.

Ogbonna was suitably impressed too, delivering an exciting verdict on Benrahma’s full debut when speaking to whufc.com.

“He is a lovely guy,” Ogbonna told whufc.com.

West Ham hero hails new teammate Benrahma

“We’ve got many guys, not just him but (Manuel) Lanzini as well, Pablo Fornals, but this is the right way from him to start in the Premier League.

“On Friday he showed his quality, he’s very good on the ball and he can make a difference for us.”

West Ham fans will be hoping that is the case when they take on Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

A victory could push West Ham into the top four and would make it five wins from the last six.

Hammers vs Palace could be a skill showcase

Benrahma will be one of several skilful talents on show at the London Stadium.

West Ham will have to be on their guard against the likes of Wilfried Zaha and reported summer target Eberechi Eze.

Both were in good form as Palace drew 1-1 with Premier League leaders Tottenham on Sunday.

Moyes must decide whether to stick with four at the back or reinstate the wingback formation that has been jeopardised by Arthur Masuaku’s absence after a knee operation.

And after a poor showing at Leeds, the pressure will be on Sebastien Haller to start proving his worth with Michail Antonio out again.
