According to a report from Telefoot journalist Saber Desfarges, alleged West Ham target Malang Sarr has agreed to join Chelsea on a four-year deal.

FC Inter News claimed back in June that the Hammers want to sign the French centre-back. But is seems as though the east London outfit could now miss out to the Blues for the talented 21-year-old.

David Moyes will be desperate to bolster his central defensive ranks at the London Stadium this summer.

The same can be said of Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge.

And Sarr would be the ideal addition for either West Ham or Chelsea.

Telefoot journalist Saber Desfarges reckons the 21-year-old is on his way to Stamford Bridge, however. And that will be a major blow for the Hammers.

Stats

The Frenchman made 19 Ligue 1 appearances for Nice last season. During those outings, the centre-back averaged one tackle, 1.9 interceptions and 1.4 clearances. He won an average of 0.7 aerial duals per game during those matches (Who Scored). So he clearly needs to work on becoming slightly more dominant in the air.

Sarr is a player with great potential, however. And his availability on a free transfer gave West Ham a great chance to sign a truly top class player for nothing.

Premier League legend Patrick Vieira raved about Sarr last year, describing his fellow countryman as a leader, when speaking to Sport 365:

“He has the personality of a leader. He answers simply and clearly. My role, with my staff, is to continue to make it progress, and to exchange with him so that he knows what the very high level is. We’ve seen it in the last few games, today Malang is better than it has been.”

It now seems like they will miss out to Chelsea, however. And that will be the latest blow in a long line of disappointments for Hammers fans so far this summer.
