Erling Haaland stole the show at the London Stadium as Manchester City comfortably beat West Ham United 2-0.
The 22-year-old phenom opened his Manchester City account with a brace against the Hammers yesterday in a game that had a distinct pre-season feel about it.
The Norwegian superstar stood out. His performance would have sent shudders down the spines of City’s Premier League title contenders.
West Ham boss David Moyes would have been disappointed with the manner of his side’s defeat yesterday but at the end of the day, Manchester City will smash teams by fives and sixes this season.
Haaland made the difference for Pep Guardiola’s side really. Obviously we would have preferred him not to score but sometimes you’ve got to appreciate greatness when it’s staring you in the face.
The Hammers fans would certainly appreciate something that Haaland did just before the second-half kicked off yesterday…
Manchester City star Erling Haaland singing Bubbles
The 22-year-old City ace scored a penalty in the first-half before adding to his tally with a well-taken goal in the second.
Before his second strike though, Manchester City star Haaland was captured singing West Ham’s famous ‘Bubbles’ anthem at half-time:
Despite our loss, it’s nice to know that one of the best players in world football appreciates our club anthem!
As mentioned earlier, we’re not the first team to be played off the park by Manchester City and we certainly won’t be the last.
It’s on to Nottingham Forest next and a win will be a must.
It was the Erling Haaland show when Manchester City beat us 2-0 yesterday. Thankfully for us, we only have to deal with him once more in the Premier League this season!
