West Ham fans react to Manuel Lanzini's display vs Wycombe

West Ham played Wycombe Wanderers in a pre-season friendly today. And some Hammers fans praised Manuel Lanzini for his performance against the Chairboys.

The 27-year-old Argentine has been extremely poor since suffering a horrendous injury in the build-up to the World Cup in 2018.

He quite simply doesn’t seem to be the same player.

Lanzini racked up three assists and no goals in 24 Premier League games for West Ham last season (Transfermarkt).

But the former River Plate man showed encouraging signs against Wycombe this afternoon.

The South American seemed to be more like his old self. His confidence still isn’t quite where it should be, but it was certainly a lot more like it today.

Lanzini looked far more threatening playing through the middle. He managed to score a goal after 35 minutes, and that will do his confidence the world of good.

And if the 27-year-old can produce his old form in the lead up to the new season, he will surely have a part to play for David Moyes at the London Stadium.

The Argentina international has been linked with a move away from West Ham, most recently by ExWHUemployee, but perhaps he could still be an important player for the club.
