And some Hammers fans have reacted on Twitter to the 21-year-old’s glorious strike…

Rice is an absolutely vital player for West Ham.

Hammers boss David Moyes will be delighted that he managed to keep the 21-year-old at the London Stadium in the summer.

The 10-capped England international has an incredibly bright future ahead of him in the game. Both with West Ham and England.

Rice is undoubtedly one of the very best deep-lying midfielders in the Premier League. But he is so much more than just a defensive ball-winner.

The 21-year-old possesses truly exceptional technique and his ability when in possession of the football often goes unnoticed.

Stats

In 107 Premier League games for the Hammers, the 21-year-old has racked up 264 tackles, 15 blocks, 176 interceptions, 184 clearances and 729 ball recoveries. He has averaged just under 40 passes per match during those outings and has completed 289 accurate long passes. (premierleague.com).

Let’s just hope that we manage to keep Rice at the London Stadium for the long-term.

He clearly loves the football club, so as long as the owners match his ambition, there is no reason why he won’t be a West Ham player for many more years to come.

Rice has everything needed to become a West Ham legend. Only time will tell whether the Hammers are prepared to provide him with the platform he needs to reach the levels he is undoubtedly capable of, however.
