According to a report from The Sun (22 June, page 64), alleged West Ham target Robin Koch is flattered by interest from Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho.
Hammers boss David Moyes will be keen to bolster his central defensive ranks this summer. Angelo Ogbonna was quite simply brilliant this season, but he recently turned 32.
Meanwhile, Issa Diop has been incredibly inconsistent, and the jury is still out on the Frenchman, whilst Winston Reid and Fabian Balbuena face uncertain futures at the London Stadium.
Spurs boss Mourinho will be keen to bring another centre-back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer too. The Portuguese needs to find a replacement for Jan Vertonghen.
The Daily Star reported back in June that West Ham and Tottenham want to sign Freiburg ace Robin Koch.
But the Hammers will have their work cut out now, with the 23-year-old German allegedly being flattered by Mourinho’s interest in signing him.
Koch has played 32 Bundesliga games for Freiburg this season, scoring one goal in the process (Who Scored).
In those 32 outings, the German has averaged 1.1 tackles, 1.5 interceptions and 2.9 clearances per game. He has also won an average of 3.6 aerial duals per game during that period (Who Scored).
The Freiburg ace has all the makings of a truly elite centre-back.
The Daily Star claims that Koch could be available for just £19 million this summer. And that would represent fantastic value for the Hammers or Spurs.
If the German truly is such an admirer of Mourinho, however, as the Sun claims he is, David Moyes faces a real battle ahead if he is to bring the 6ft 3in ace to east London this summer.
