West Ham are leading the race to sign Slavia Prague defender Vladimir Coufal, according to the Independent. And ExWHUemployee has suggested that those claims are in fact true with Tomas Soucek having recommended his former teammate to David Moyes.
David Moyes will undoubtedly be keen to bring a new right-back to the London Stadium this summer.
Ryan Fredericks has been poor since joining the Hammers in the summer of 2018. And Ben Johnson, as talented as he is, is probably too young to be completely relied upon week in week out next season.
The problem for Moyes, however, is that he will have little, if any, funds to spend this summer. So he will have to be thrifty in his player recruitment this summer.
So Vladimir Coufal’s availability for just £4 million (Independent) might just appeal to West Ham.
The 27-year-old has scored three goals in 27 league games for Slavia Prague this season (Transfermarkt).
Coufal played a major role for his team this season. And the fact that they conceded just eight goals in the 27 games he played says a lot about the industrious right-back.
The seven-capped Czech Republic international is a very reliable defender. He also likes to get forward and join in with attacks.
Following the success of Tomas Soucek, David Moyes will surely be very tempted to bring one of his former teammates to the London Stadium for what would be a bargain fee.
Coufal would certainly provide strong competition for Ben Johnson. And signing him this summer seems to be an absolute no brainer for the Hammers.
