West Ham United are allegedly confident of beating Newcastle to the signing of Watford attacker Ismaila Sarr this summer.
That’s according to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs who told NUFC Matters that he’s heard that David Moyes is confident of wrapping up a deal for the 24-year-old forward despite Newcastle chasing his signature as well.
The Mirror (print edition June 12th, page 72) first broke the news that West Ham want to sign Sarr.

Newcastle want to sign the 47-capped Senegal international as well according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth.
It seems as though the Hammers are ahead of the Magpies in the race for Sarr though…
West Ham confident of beating Newcastle to Sarr
It would be easy to assume that the Magpies have an advantage over the Hammers in the race for the 24-year-old forward because of their far superior spending power.
It seems as though West Ham are in pole position for Sarr though.
CBS journalist Ben Jacobs told NUFC Matters that he’s heard how West Ham are confident of winning the race to sign the Watford star:
“Sarr is another player that’s been on Newcastle’s radar, but it looks like West Ham and David Moyes, from people I speak to, are far more confident in that one getting over the line.”
Let’s hope that Jacobs is spot on here.
Sarr could be available for around £25 million this summer according to The Mirror (print edition June 12th, page 72).
That’s great value in my opinion.
Sarr has racked up 24 goals and 18 assists in 92 games for the Hornets (Transfermarkt).
The 24-year-old is a frightening talent with explosive pace. He has a really direct playing style and that combined with his speed would add so much to West Ham’s counter-attacking setup.
And with West Ham allegedly confident of beating Newcastle to the signing of Sarr, the Senegalese ace rocking up at the London Stadium this summer now seems like a very real prospect indeed.
