West Ham United boss David Moyes signed Nayef Aguerd from Rennes in the summer transfer window at the end of June, but suffered a serious injury just a few weeks later.
The Hammers paid around £30 million for the 26-year-old centre-back (Sky Sports), and he arrived at the London Stadium under the heavy weight of high expectations.

Aguerd sustained a serious ankle injury during a pre-season friendly against Rangers in July, and has been missing ever since.

Still, West Ham have missed him badly during his absence and its something that should seriously concern David Moyes…
David Moyes should be worried about how much West Ham have missed Nayef Aguerd
First and foremost, Aguerd’s absence has meant that Moyes has struggled to play with a back three.
Sure, he can use Aaron Cresswell or Angelo Ogbonna but the 32-year-old is well past his best, whilst the Italian is still not fully match fit.
Aside from that, our defending has been truly atrocious so far this season.
West Ham have conceded some really sloppy goals this term and we just look incredibly shaky at the back.
Aside from Thilo Kehrer, there has not been one single Hammers defender who’s emerged from the opening period of the season with any credit.

Aguerd will undoubtedly take us to another level when he returns, what with his blistering pace and incredible passing ability.
However, the concern is that we have already become too overly reliant on him.
With Craig Dawson being heavily linked with an exit from the London Stadium and Angelo Ogbonna already on the wrong side of 34, the addition of another ball-playing central defender in January and next summer may well be at the top of the West Ham manager’s agenda.
West Ham boss David Moyes needs Nayef Aguerd back as soon as possible. Our chances of achieving a successful campaign this season may well depend on it.
