Ben Johnson spoke to WHUFC.com and highlighted just how physically draining the upcoming campaign could be for West Ham.
And the youngster has, perhaps unwittingly, highlighted just how much the Hammers need to make at least three or four new signings before the transfer window slams shut.
As things stand, David Moyes has only brought Alphonse Areola to the London Stadium.
It could be argued that the Scot needs to sign two strikers, a central midfielder, a centre-back, an attacking midfield play-maker and a left-back if West Ham are to challenge on all fronts this season.
Beggars can’t be choosers though. Most West Ham fans would probably settle for a new striker and a new centre-back now.
West Ham ace unwittingly highlights need for new signings
Ben Johnson was speaking about the upcoming campaign for the Hammers.
The 21-year-old suggested how West Ham are in for a physically draining season:
“We’ve got 50-odd games, hopefully, and all of them will be played at a relentless pace.”
Perhaps without knowing, Johnson has highlighted just how badly Moyes needs to bolster his ranks at the London Stadium.
Playing so many games at such a ferocious pace will be nigh on impossible for West Ham.
We quite simply won’t be able to compete unless Moyes is sufficiently backed in the transfer market by GSB.

Whether that happens remains to be seen. And we will reserve judgement until September 1st.
