Vladimir Coufal comments on West Ham playing style go directly against what David Moyes has hinted that he wants

Vladimir Coufal has highlighted the need for West Ham United to not just win matches, but to win them well.

And those comments from the 30-year-old right-back are in direct contrast to the recent remarks from David Moyes.

The Scot suggested earlier this week that he is tempted to return to a more pragmatic style in order to get his team to ‘win ugly’.

West Ham are in real trouble in the Premier League at the moment. We are currently sitting just one point clear of the relegation zone, and with games against Newcastle, Chelsea and Tottenham to come in our next three outings, things are looking bleak at the London Stadium.

The Hammers players have to stand up and be counted throughout what will be three incredibly tough games, if they are to put any points on the board. However they come by, points on the board are vital at this stage of the season.

But Coufal has insisted that it’s important to not only win, but to play well whilst doing it as well…

Vladimir Coufal completely contradicts West Ham boss David Moyes

The Hammers defender sat down to speak with the club’s official website about the current state of play at the London Stadium.

The Czech Republic international told WHUFC.com:

“In our situation, every win is very important. When you are dominant in the game, control the whole game, it’s not just a lucky win; it very important to not just win but win this way.”

It’s clear to see from those comments that Coufal has a very different mentality to Moyes.

The problem with that is that if everyone isn’t pulling int he same direction, instructions can come very confusing and then subsequently misinterpreted.

It’s not often that I agree with David Moyes, but this time I think he makes a better point than Vladimir Coufal does.

And we will see over the next three games what approach Moyes takes to winning them. I would guess that it’s a defensive one with the priority being placed on defensive solidarity.

And as long as it yields some rewards, I couldn’t care less at this moment in time.
