David Moyes raved about West Ham ace Angelo Ogbonna, when speaking exclusively to the club’s official website today.
The 32-year-old Italian has been in superb form over the past year or so.
Ogbonna was one of the standout performers for the Hammers last season. And he has began this season in very much the same fashion.
The 32-year-old has been rewarded for his fine form with a recall to the Italy national team.
The centre-back joined West Ham from Juventus in the summer of 2015 for around £10 million (BBC).
He has since proven to be worth every single penny.
And Hammers boss David Moyes singled Ogbonna out for praise when speaking exclusively to WHUFC.com:
“I think we’re seeing some really good form from some of the defenders at the moment, and no more so than probably Angelo [Ogbonna]. Getting himself a return to the Italian national team gives you an idea that he’s getting recognised for his performances at West Ham.”
In four Premier League appearances for West Ham this season, Ogbonna has racked up six tackles, three interceptions, 19 clearances, 15 headed clearances and 26 ball recoveries (premierleague.com).
The 32-year-old has also won 17 out of 29 individual duals and 10 out of 17 aerial battles (premierleague.com).
The Italian is clearly a very important player for us.
And the Hammers will need him to be at his very best this season if we are to enjoy a successful Premier League campaign.
