Under fire West Ham United star Thilo Kehrer has won the respect of fans for what he did after the Crystal Palace defeat.
Fortune may always be hiding for West Ham, but £10m summer signing Kehrer certainly wasn’t yesterday.
West Ham’s players trudged off down the tunnel to a chorus of boos from a frustrated home crowd after Palace’s 94th minute winner at the London Stadium.
West Ham were being completely played off the park by Palace in the first half when Said Benrahma produced a wonderful goal out of nothing, belting the ball past Vicente Guaita from outside the box.

The Hammers gifted the Eagles an equaliser before the break, though, with Craig Dawson playing a woeful pass to Kehrer who managed to produce an even worse piece of control to allow Palace to find Wilf Zaha in the box for the easiest goal he’ll score all season.
West Ham were similarly generous in the 94th minute when the hapless Michail Antonio – with all the time in the world – sent over a brainless cross straight into Guaita’s arms and Palace broke away in scenes reminiscent of what the Hammers striker did five years ago at Selhurst Park.
Break they did and Michael Olise was allowed to cut in on his left foot by the visibly ageing Aaron Cresswell and hit a shot which deflected off the defender and over Lukasz Fabianski into the goal.
West Ham’s players were hurting and made their way into the bowels of the stadium at the final whistle.

But under fire West Ham star Kehrer won the respect of fans for what he did after Crystal Palace defeat.
With the pitch long having emptied, Kehrer fronted up to applaud the frustrated supporters who had remained in the ground.
A number of West Ham fans took to social media to praise Kehrer for his actions.
Fair play to the German for not hiding despite his part in West Ham conceding that terrible equaliser.
David Moyes has remarked how impressed he has been with Kehrer’s leadership since arriving at West Ham from PSG.
We can only hope his performances – and that of the team – improve dramatically over the course of the season.
