The 21-year-old is undoubtedly the Hammers best and most important player.

With everything else that has already gone on in this transfer window, if we manage to keep him it will feel like a massive win.

Rice is the man who David Moyes should be building his West Ham team around. And allowing him to leave the London Stadium would be a huge error, irrespective of the massive transfer fee that we would undoubtedly receive for his services.

The Hammers begin their Premier League campaign with a home game against Newcastle next weekend. That match is followed by incredibly difficult games against Arsenal, Wolves, Leicester, Tottenham, Manchester City and Liverpool.

So it cannot be underestimated just how important it will be to pick up three points against the Magpies.

And bearing that in mind, it would have been a worry for West Ham fans that Rice is struggling with an unspecified injury.

But the Evening Standard has shared some great news today by claiming that the Hammers are confident that the 21-year-old will be fit and available for selection for next weekend’s game against Newcastle.

Having Rice in the team against the Toon will be a truly monumental boost for West Ham.

And it is one that we desperately need at the moment. There is enough bad feeling reverberating around the club as it is.

So seeing Rice take to the pitch at the London Stadium next Saturday will be a timely lift for the east London outfit.
