Hammers boss David Moyes brought four senior players to the London Stadium in the end – Alphonse Areola, Kurt Zouma, Nikola Vlasic and Alex Kral.

The latter two arrived on transfer deadline day.

It was a good transfer window on the whole. The one disappointment being that we didn’t sign a centre-forward to act as cover for Michail Antonio.

West Ham boss David Moyes took his time to get the deals done throughout the summer.

And that caused the Hammers’ fans to be hugely frustrated.

Stuart Pearce clears up West Ham transfer delay

Moyes is notorious for using due diligence before bringing any new players into the club. There is nothing wrong with that…just look at the success the Scot has had in the transfer market since returning as West Ham manager.

And Pearce told talkSPORT (09:15, September 2nd) how the Hammers have kind of been victims of their own success:

“To be fair, it’s not been an easy window. Dave’s worked really, really hard at trying to get the right players in and a little bit of it is that we’re victims of our own semi-success. The standard of players has to be good enough that we see them for our first team. We don’t want to sign squad players so it’s taken a while to get a few over the line.”

We have all moaned about some of the dross that previous managers signed for West Ham.

So having Moyes being so particular is something that we should all embrace.
