Steve McManaman criticised West Ham United hitman Sebastien Haller for his lack of mobility against Everton at Goodison Park , when speaking on BT Sport last night (Friday, January 1st, 18:01).
The 26-year-old forward joined the Hammers from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2019 for around £45 million (BBC).
Sebastien Haller has really struggled to impress at the London Stadium however.
The Ivory Coast international has scored just 14 goals in 53 games for West Ham (Transfermarkt).
It has been Haller’s all-round game that frustrates the Hammers fans the most, however.
West Ham struggles continue for Sebastien Haller
The 6ft 3in striker is continually bullied by opposing defenders and he doesn’t really offer the Hammers defence any kind of outlet when they are under pressure.
Sebastien Haller is the polar opposite to Michail Antonio. Many West Ham fans have criticised the former Eintracht Frankfurt ace for his lack of mobility and movement this season.
And Steve McManaman told BT Sport last night how the 26-year-old’s lack of mobility cost him a big chance to impress for the Hammers against Everton last night:
“He had a great chance tonight Haller, but he’s just not mobile enough.”
It if fair to say that West Ham as a team don’t really play to Haller’s strengths.
But he quite simply has to adapt and work harder otherwise he will face a bleak future at the London Stadium.
As things stand, the signs aren’t good. Sebastien Haller’s time at West Ham seems to be hanging by a thread.
