Some West Ham United fans want to see hot young prospect Harrison Ashby thrust straight into the team after Ryan Fredericks sustained a new hamstring injury.
Many believe the flying right-back is an even better prospect than Ben Johnson.
And he could save David Moyes millions in the last knockings of the transfer window.
West Ham fans have been raving about 18-year-old Ashby after the 5-1 thrashing of Hull City last week.
Hammers fans wowed by youngster Ashby
Ashby also impressed when coming on as a substitute in the previous round against Charlton.
Lightning quick, powerful and with great attacking intent, Ashby ticks so many boxes to make the progression from the Hammers academy to first team.
Moyes has made it clear he wants to build a new-look West Ham team around young, hungry players.
West Ham suffered a blow to that vision when Ashby’s fellow academy star Jeremy Ngakia left the club back in June.
But now the Hammers appear to have three good options for what has been a problem position for West Ham over the years.
Fredericks has looked much improved so far this season.
Much improved Fredericks only out for short spell
But just as he seemed to be finding some form, Fredericks suffered a low grade hamstring injury in the win over Wolves.
West Ham have confirmed he will be out for less than a month (whufc.com).
Moyes has been linked with a number of right-backs and centre-backs who can also play on the right side of defence such as Takehiro Tomiyasu (The Sun).
Now many West Ham fans believe Ashby should be thrust straight into the first team picture instead.
West Ham fans believe Moyes’s new 5231 formation would be perfect for Ashby.
There would be less pressure on the youngster defensively and he has the fitness, energy and pace to make the right wingback role a success.
Ashby looks certain to start in West Ham’s next Carabao Cup game at Everton in midweek.
Many fans want Ashby thrust into Hammers first team
But he may well find himself involved at Leicester on Sunday too.
Here are a selection of comments on Ashby from West Ham fans on Twitter.

He looks a more natural wing back than Johnson.

I think @harrisonashbyy too. Play him at goodison Wednesday

Ashby is going to be a far better player. I’d get him involved

Are we just forgetting about Johnson after one bad game. Not being funny but Arnaut Danjuma started the season really well for Bournemouth and is just that little more experienced then Johnson that’s why he had a bad game. It will happen but you need to stick with players

Although I concede Fredericks has looked more comfortable last 2 games he’s still no way an EPL footballer. Ashby just looks a real find from glimpses we’ve seen and it would be good to give him an opportunity as well as Johnson https://t.co/1wgijXo25c

Start @harrisonashbyy then

What about @harrisonashbyy

‘Rather than chuck money at it, it could be Ashby’s big chance’
Need new signing ASAP as his hamstring will always be a issue
— Chris Redfern (@redfern438) September 28, 2020
Remember years ago when a first team player got injured and it gave a reserve or team member a chance rather than chuck money at the problem??? Ashby’s big chance with johnson 🤔

With the news Ryan Fredericks is injured again is it time to look towards Harrison Ashby for the first team alongside Ben Johnson ⚒
Long term plan of young hungry players

Fredericks hamstring will likely be 3 or 4 weeks min & I think we’ll miss him in this formation.
Johnson done excellently when he come on but you can tell he’s not a natural wing back. Ashby looks more of a wing back for me.
Will be interesting to see if we strengthen there.

Should give Ashby a chance if Fredericks is out. Looks solid.

If fredericks is injured I’d rather Ashby than Johnson

Feel Fredericks is playing like that too especially knowing he has Ashby and Johnson knocking on the door for his position too.
