West Ham United target James Tarkowski is allegedly faking a toe injury in a bid to force a move away from Burnley.

That’s according to reliable West Ham insider ExWHUemployee.

West Ham have been chasing David Moyes’s number one target Tarkowski ever since selling Grady Diangana to West Brom.

So far Burnley have rejected West Ham’s offers.

West Ham and Leicester chasing Tarkowski

But the Telegraph’s John Percy claims a deal can be struck at around £35million.

Leicester have also been sniffing around for the England centre-back.

Hammers fans are sceptical over their chances of landing Tarkowski.

The 27-year-old was once again missing for Burnley in their game against Southampton last night.

The official reason given by Burnley is a toe injury.

But reliable West Ham insider ExWHUemployee claims he has sources at Burnley who have informed him Tarkowski is faking the injury in a bid to force a move away.

Insider claims Tarkowski toe injury is not true

The anonymous Twitter and podcast personality also claims Tarkowski is refusing to be assessed by Burnley’s medical staff over the injury.

“This toe injury is not true,” ExWHUemployee claims.

“He is refusing to play. He isn’t allowing the club to get it tested it too.

“Apparently he did the same at Brentford too.

“Burnley contacts (told me).”

Will West Ham finally land one of Moyes’s targets?

Whether West Ham will now up the ante in a bid to get Moyes’s prime target remains to be seen.

Unpopular co-owner David Sullivan suggested in an interview with talkSPORT in midweek that he would ‘go a little bit more but not double’ the reported £20 million West Ham value Tarkowski at in a bid to sign the defender.

Leicester’s continued interest appears ominous, though. And that is not lost on West Ham fans who feel the club should have looked elsewhere long before now.
